The Middle Ages marked a period of time between the ancient and modern eras, spanning a vast societal and geographical landscape that had been the Roman Empire. Dispelling the notion that the so-called Dark Ages represented centuries of decline in civilized society, this course will shed light on religious and secular intellectual ideologies that invigorated medieval life and culture. It will also look at the tensions and complex relationships between religiously diverse communities.
Finally, we will envision the Middle Ages through specific literary, Architectural and other artistic works
