Since 1931, The Alumnae of Northwestern has given more than $10 million in fellowships, scholarships, and awards to faculty and students.

 

ALL ALUMNAE FUNDING:

Grants Program 

Annually helps University departments and faculty with important programs not included in their annual budgets. Past funding has gone to research, speakers, conferences, equipment, and study-related travel. 

Alumnae Endowment for Academic Enrichment

A substantial endowment was raised to commemorate the 75th anniversary of The Alumnae of Northwestern University in 1991. Funds are used to bring distinguished scholars and artists to campus annually.

Endowed fund for undergraduate research, recipients selected by Northwestern University

Alumnae of Northwestern University Graduate Fellowships

Awarded to full-time graduate students, each in a terminal Master's program, who show promise of achieving distinction in a career that will serve the public good and bring credit to Northwestern University.  For the current description and application, go to the Graduate Fellowship folder in the left column on this page.

Alumnae of Northwestern STEM Scholarships

Awarded to rising junior students who are enrolled in a STEM discipline, Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.

Alumnae of Northwestern Summer Interns

Sponsorship of multiple summer internships through Northwestern Career Advancement (formerly University Career Services) Summer Internship Grant Program

Alumnae of Northwestern University Teaching Professorship

An endowed professorship that honors a faculty member for excellence in teaching and curriculum innovation; the selected professor serves a three-year term.

Alumnae of Northwestern University  Award for Curriculum Innovation (formerly Curriculum Development)

Awarded annually this supports faculty work over the summer to develop innovative course materials, new courses, or new modes of teaching, including online education, that will benefit undergraduate students.

WCAS Teaching Awards

Financial support for the Judd A. and Marjorie Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences Awards for Outstanding Teachers
 
The Alumnae of Northwestern University Scholarship Fund

Endowed three-year scholarship, selected by Northwestern University

Anniversary Gifts to Schools

Schools of the University celebrating their quarter-century anniversaries receive a $1,000 contribution to be used at the discretion of the school's dean.

Campus Buildings 
The Alumnae have contributed to the building, restoration and renovation of campus facilities including Scott Hall, University Hall,  Harris Hall, Rogers and Hobart Houses in the quadrangles, the Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art, and Norris University Center, home of The Alumnae's Continuing Education program.   They have also provided funding for the John Evans Alumni Center's glass-paneled living room doors and renovation of a first floor meeting room in memory of Alumnae Director Helen Knight.
 
 

FORMER AWARDS:

Dissertation Fellowship

More than 100 women who were doctoral candidates received graduate fellowships, which included full tuition and a stipend for the dissertation year.

School of Music Scholarship

A $10,000 gift matched by the Dean of the School of Music funded students who needed help meeting study and performance expenses.

Senior Woman's Award

Honored a senior woman whose volunteer work enhanced the University community

FORMER PROGRAM:

Waa-Mu Patron Project
Each year, nearly 500 patrons received choice seats to the Waa-Mu Show in recognition of their contributions to various Alumnae programs. A Waa-Mu senior was honored in memory of Joe Miller, founder of Waa-Mu and co-founder of the Alumnae Waa-Mu Patron Project.
