Eden Stargardt

Graduate Fellowship Recipient, 2024

Eden Stargardt is a first-year graduate student in the Bienen School of Music. She will receive her master of music degree in 2025, where she is majoring in horn. She completed a dual degree program in German and Music in 2023, graduating with honors. Her senior thesis will be published this spring. As an undergraduate, she left Northwestern for two quarters of treatment for a chronic illness, then returned to campus to maintain a 4.0 GPA, while attending classes and rehearsals, working, and continuing medical treatment. She has been financially independent since moving off campus her junior year and has supported herself by working multiple jobs.

Currently Ms. Stargardt attends school full time and is a graduate assistant for her studio professors, as well as working as a program assistant at the Center for Education, Efficacy, Excellence, and Equity. Her recommendations, by prominent professors who are also noted symphonic horn players, raved about her musical abilities, her creativity, and her diligent work in and outside of the department. Her long-term career goals are playing in a professional orchestra and teaching a studio of students.
