The Alumnae Award recognizes a woman who has brought honor to Northwestern University through outstanding professional contributions in her field and who has attained national recognition. Established in 1976, the Alumnae Award has been presented every year to an alumna who has had a significant impact in her field of endeavor. Educators, journalists, doctors, scientists, and artists are included among The Alumnae’s roster of awardees.

Neena Schwartz is author of more than 200 articles, chapters and books in the field of reproductive neuroendocrinology.  She is director emerita, Center for Reproductive Science at Northwestern University.  Her research focused on regulation of the reproductive cycle; the relation between the brain, pituitary gland and the gonads; stress and reproduction. Neena has received the following honors, among others:  Northwestern Alumni Excellence in Teaching Award, Women in Endocrinology Mentor of the Year Award, Distinguished Educator Award from the endocrine Society, AAAS Lifetime Mentor Award, Northwestern School of Medicine alumni Merit Award, and Pioneer in Reproductive Research Award.
